The first day of classes for all Duneland Schools students is Monday, Aug. 14.

First and last bell times for the 2017-18 school year:

* Chesterton High School: 7:40 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

* Liberty and Westchester Intermediate: -8:15 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.

* Chesterton Middle School: 7:55 a.m. to 2:55 p.m.

* All elementary schools: 8 a.m.. to 2:25 p.m.

School Immunization


All Duneland School students are required to provide documentation of the immunization requirements. The Indiana State Department of Health Immunization Division annually reviews and updates the immunization required for school entry. Bus Transportation

Duneland students who live outside the established walking boundaries of their respective schools may be bused to and from school. Bus routes for registered Duneland students are available today, via the Skyward Parent Access Portal. If you need assistance accessing your Parent Access Portal, please contact your childís school.

CHS Parking Permits

Students are encouraged to use the school buses, to carpool, and to drive only when essential. Students allowed to drive must present their current driverís license and completed registration form in order to purchase a parking permit. Parking permit registration forms may be downloaded by visiting the website at

Parent signature is required on the registration form.

Parking permits cost 75 cents and can be purchased beginning Aug. 14 at the CHS bookstore.

CHS Athletic Tickets

An annual athletic pass is $100 for adults and $75 for students.

This pass is good for all home games, excluding DAC and IHSAA tournaments.

Early Dismissal Days

All Duneland students will have early dismissals on the following days: Tuesday, Sept. 12; Tuesday, Oct. 3; Parent Conference days: Wednesday, Nov. 1 and Thursday, Nov. 2; Thursday, Dec. 7; Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018; Wednesday, April 4, 2018; and Wednesday, May 2, 2018.

School early dismissal times: elementary at 1:45 p.m.; intermediate at 1:35 p.m.; CMS at 2:25 p.m.; and CHS at 2:10 p.m.

Elementary and intermediate students will be picked up 10 minutes early by buses and the intermediate school day will begin 10 minutes early at 8:05 a.m. Students will be dismissed early so that teachers may attend school improvement and professional development activities. Hot Lunch Prices

Single hot lunches for elementary and intermediate students will cost $2.55 per day; middle and high school $2.75 per day; and adults $3.60 per day.

Additional milk is 50 cents per half pint.

Breakfast prices for elementary/intermediate students will cost $1.35 per day; middle and high school $1.50 per day; and adults $1.75 per day.

Reduced fees are 30 cents for breakfast and 40 cents for lunch.

Free and Reduced Lunches

There is no need to fill out an application if you are currently using the food stamp program or TANF. If at anytime during the school year you apply for food stamps or TANF and are approved, you must fill out an application and submit it completed and signed. Your children will be automatically certified to receive free breakfast and lunch at that time.

You will only need to fill out one application per household listing all of your children that are students at Duneland Schools. Applications are available on the Duneland website. You can turn this application in at any Duneland School Corporation location. Apply early so that your children can start school already approved for free or reduced meals. Students can receive a free or reduced meal from any lunch line at all schools.

Cycle Menus

Duneland Schools Food Services uses a four-week cycle of menus that rotate every fourth week. Menu items are selected from student favorites that are also healthy and nutritious. Fresh fruits are served daily and the cafeterias continue to offer a wide variety of healthy food choices including beans and green leafy vegetables.
