Duneland names new CMS coaches and aide appointments for 2014-15

Duneland School Administrators presented their monthly report of personnel appointments, transfers and resignations to the School Board during the meeting Tuesday.

The report for August listed many coaching appointments to Chesterton Middle School and elementary school aides.

Effective for the 2014-15 school year, assistant football coaches at CMS will be Dan Lynch, Evan Steiner, Sam Marshall, Josh Tudor and Kenneth Florek.

For CMS Volleyball, Ashley Gordeneer will be the 8th Grade Coach, Kellie Roberts the 8th Grade Assistant Coach, Kelly Williamson will be the 7th Grade Coach and Diane Mrak the 7th Grade Assistant Coach.

Also, Luke Starkey has been appointed as Head Boys Cross Country Coach at CMS. Dan Paff will be the CMS Assistant Boys Cross Country Coach. For the CMS Girls Cross Country, Kathryn Evans will be the Head Coach and Lindsey Megyesi the Assistant Coach.

There were also coaching appointments made at the high school. Kathleen Maple will coach 9th Grade Volleyball. Jim McLaughlin will coach Girls J.V. Soccer and Cynthia Fish will be a volunteer coach.

In another appointment, Mariann Chapman will be the Extra-Curricular Accounting Treasurer at CHS.

Two new teaching positions were also announced. Kayla Prow will teach 1st Grade at Jackson Elementary and Kellie Cahillane, a Chesterton graduate, will teach 5th Grade at Liberty Intermediate.

The administration also hired Amy Snyder as an Ability Aide and Amy Ott-Lutterman as a High Ability Aide for the Duneland Schools.

At CMS, Jill Balcerak has been appointed as an Instructional Aide and Cathy Schuster as an Instructional Aide-Lifeguard.

At Yost Elementary, Jennifer Furgye has been appointed as a Recess Aide, Michelle Bryant as an Instructional Aide, Lisa Bass as an Instructional Aide, Cindy Johnson as a Title 1 Aide and Katie Armstrong as a Title 1 Aide.

At Liberty Elementary, Shannon Loney has been appointed as a Title 1 Lunchroom Aide, Michelle AmRhein as an Instructional Aide and Melissa Stringham as an Instructional Aide.

Amber Hiser and Ann Harding will be kitchen helpers for Duneland.

Resignations this past month included CMS Remediation Aide Anne Martin, custodian Tony Breed, Westchester Intermediate Tech Aide Jennifer Staresina, CMS 7th Grade Boys Basketball Coach Emily Frikken, CMS 8th Grade Boys Basketball Coach Nick Bamber, Brummitt Elementary 4th Grade Teacher Pamela Moore, and Brummitt Elementary Title 1 Aide Mariann Chapman.

Also, CHS Spanish Teacher Kayleen Arizzi will be on child care leave until Oct. 22.

Transferring from her teaching position at Liberty Elementary to teaching 6th Grade at Westchester Intermediate this year is Amy MacLaverty.

The school board approved the staffing appointments as part of its consent agenda.
