An outstanding group of candidates have been chosen as the 2012 CHS
basketball homecoming royalty contestants.
The three girls nominated for queen are junior Rachael Holifield and seniors
Anne Kosakowski and Emily Wright; and the three for princess are sophomores
Vanessiah Cummins, Jami Ritchea and Leslie Taubert.
Cummins, daughter of Dr. David and Kelly Cummins of Valparaiso, is active in
cheerleading and softball.
Holifield, daughter of Mary Chastain of Westville, is active in Liberty Rec
Softball, and is the JV/Varsity basketball manager.
Kosakowski, daughter of Alan and Diane Kosakowski, is a member of Sandpipers
and Spanish club.
Ritchea, daughter of Darrell and Marcia Ritchea of Porter, is active in
cross-country and track, and is a member of the Speech team.
Taubert, daughter of John and Karen Taubert of Chesterton, is active in
swimming, Interact club, Spanish club and Student Council.
Wright, daughter of Allen and Ruth Wright of Chesterton, is a member of
Interact club, Natural Helpers and is active in Campus Life.
The three boys nominated for king are junior Lambro Tsampis and seniors Tate
Paglia and Jacob Pruitt; and the three for prince are freshmen Shawn Adams
and sophomores Seth Highlen and Cole Teal.
Adams, son of Mark and Doreen Adams of Chesterton, is the only freshman
member of the CHS Sandpipers and is a member of Student Council.
Highlen, the son of Jeffrey Highlen and Maggie Mahns of Chesterton, enjoys
snowboarding, music, drawing, paintball and scuba diving.
Paglia, son of Jim and Sandy Paglia of Chesterton, is a member of National
Honor Society, Interact club, Business Professionals of America (BPA) and
enjoys tennis, and making music.
Pruitt, son of Mark and Kristian Pruitt of Chesterton, is a member of Quiz
Bowl, Academic Superbowl, Advanced Orchestra, Pep Band and Natural Helpers.
He also volunteers for Kids Alive International, is a summer camp counselor,
and tutors students.
Teal, son of Dave and Sandra Teal of Chesterton, is a member of the
basketball, football and baseball teams; Student Council (treasurer), AAU
Basketball and BPA.
Tsampis, son of Mike and Maria Tsampis of Valparaiso, is active in football,
wrestling and track and is a member of Spanish club and Campus Life. He is
very active in his church and leads a few teenage groups.
The CHS homecoming king/queen and prince/princess will be chosen on Friday,
Jan. 27. The homecoming prince/princess will be crowned at half-time at the
homecoming girls’ varsity basketball game against Lake Central and the
king/queen will be crowned at half-time at the homecoming boys' varsity
basketball game against Lake Central.
The semi-formal homecoming dance will be held Saturday, Jan. 28 from 8-11
p.m. in the CHS cafeteria.
