Holly Kittredge, a
Chesterton High School junior and flutist in the Chesterton High School Band
program, performed this past week in the 57th annual Indiana High School
All-State Band Festival hosted by Indiana Bandmasters Association (IBA).
Each student earned
this honor by participating in a highly competitive audition held early in
January at nine centers across Indiana. Seven hundred talented young
musicians applied and auditioned. A selection committee then reviewed the
recorded auditions from each center. One hundred seventy-three outstanding
students from fifty-two high schools were selected to perform in two
different ensembles at the 2018 Festival. Daniel Tembras, Director of Bands,
at Indiana University/Purdue University (IUPUI) Ft. Wayne, directed the 85
member Indiana All-State Band. All members participated in a series of
activities including seating auditions, sectionals, and full rehearsals from
Friday Sunday. Their weekend concluded with a Grand Finale concert presented
to the public on Sunday at Elliott Hall of Music on the Purdue University Ð
West Lafayette campus.
