Two more C19 deaths in Porter County

The Porter County Health Department was reporting this morning two more COVID-19 deaths in the county, to bring the total so far to 30.

Both victims were Center Township residents in the 70-79 demographic and both were residing in long-term care facilities.

To date, 30 Porter County residents have died from COVID-19: four Westchester Township residents; one Liberty Township resident; 14 Portage Township residents; and 11 Center Township residents.

Deaths by age group: six 50-59; one 60-69; six 70-79; eight 80-89; and nine 90-and-over. Thirteen men have died and 17 women.

New Cases

The Health Department was also reporting today three new COVID-19 cases (six new cases on Thursday), to bring the total so far to 572, up from 569 on Thursday.

Thirteen patients are currently hospitalized, unchanged from Thursday; while 388 have recovered, also unchanged from Thursday.

Total active cases in Porter County, after subtracting deaths and recoveries: 154 (153 on Thursday).


To date, 96 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Porter County’s long-term care facilities, unchanged from Thursday.

Twenty-one have died (19 on Thursday), three are currently hospitalized (four), and 10 have recovered (10).


Total COVID-19 tests conducted in Porter County as of Thursday, according to the Indiana State Department of Health: 5,303, up from 5,059 on Wednesday.

Duneland Cases by Township

-- Westchester: 36 cases, four deaths, no hospitalizations, 30 recoveries (unchanged from Thursday). Two active cases.

-- Liberty: 25 cases, one death, two hospitalizations, 17 recoveries (unchanged from Thursday). Seven active cases.

-- Jackson: Two cases, no deaths, none hospitalized, one recovery. One active case.

-- Pine: Three cases, no hospitalizations, three recoveries. No active cases.

Other hard-hit townships:

-- Portage: 237 cases (235 cases on Thursday), 14 deaths (13), five hospitalizations (four), 152 recoveries (152).

Center: 155 cases (154 cases on Thursday), 11 deaths (nine), five hospitalizations (six), 83 recoveries (83).

Washington: 49 cases, no deaths, no hospitalizations, 47 recoveries.

Union: 22 cases, no deaths, no hospitalizations, 20 recoveries.
