The third annual Taste of Duneland will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to
11 p.m. in Thomas Centennial Park in downtown Chesterton.
Vendors will include Lucrezia Cafe, Wagner’s Ribs, El Salto Mexican
Restaurant, Taj Indian Bistro, Third Coast Spice Café, Leroy's Hot Stuff,
and George's Gyros Spot.
The Chesterton Lions Club will serve up their popular Swedish potato
sausage, and the Flower Cart will offer homemade fudge. L.U.L.A.C. will be
on hand with homemade tamales and tacos, while Frozen Rainbow Italian Ice
will offer ice cold relief from the heat. New to Taste this year are
Bartlett’s Gourmet Grill from Beverly Shores and Noak’s Popcorn and Kim’s
Chocolates, both of Chesterton.
Savor the wines of Butler Winery while relaxing in the wine garden listening
and dancing to live bands. Thomas Park’s bandstand will feature local and
regional bands with the headliner, The Hat Guys, at 7 p.m. Sponsored by
Lakeshore Anesthesia, P.C., the Hat Guys have played many Chicago venues
including the House of Blues, Hard Rock Café, Navy Pier, and Taste of
Chicago.
At 3 p.m., Lucrezia Cafe will sponsor White Dove, a Reggae and R&B band with
roots in Northwest Indiana. Making their Taste debut in the early afternoon
will be the Getbacks, whose members hail from the Duneland area. Don and
Veronica, from Indiana Z107, will broadcast from 4 to 6 p.m. with
give-a-ways of free food from Taste vendors.
At 2 p.m., students from O'Connor’s Martial Arts will demonstrate their
skills and abilities. Bounce houses will also be available for kids.
