The Indiana State
Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 339 new cases of
COVID-19 over the last 24 hours (430 new cases on Tuesday), to bring total
cases so far to 38,337, up from 38,033 on Tuesday, an increase of 0.9
ISDH was also
reporting 16 additional deaths over the last 24 hours (23 additional deaths
on Tuesday), to bring the total so far to 2,355, up from 2,339, an increase
of 0.7 percent.
Nursing home cases
and deaths to date: 4,611 cases and 1,011 deaths (unchanged from Tuesday).
Number of nursing home facilities in the state with at least one case of
COVID-19: 250. Number of nursing homes in the state with at least one
COVID-19 death: 155.
320,094 tests have
been reported to date to ISDH, up from 315,390 on Tuesday, an increase of
1.5 percent over the last 24 hours, with a positive rate of 12 percent.
Tests are being conducted by ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, and private laboratories.
Tests in Porter
County: 5,904 (5,825 on Tuesday). In Lake County: 27,951 (27,690). In
LaPorte County: 5,009 (4,917).
If positive rates
are an indication of the extent of COVID-19 testing in a county, then Porter
County’s 9.8 percent positive rate compares favorably to Lake’s (14.4
percent) and the state’s (12 percent) but is higher than LaPorte’s (9.2
Marion County has
the most reported cases, 10,464 (10,444 on Tuesday); and the most deaths,
634 (630). Lake County has reported 4,033 cases (4,005) and 219 deaths
(217), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County
has reported 463 cases and 24 deaths (462 and 24).
The total COVID-19
death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date.
Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms
all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. A total
of 182 presumptive deaths was reported today (181 on Tuesday).
