State reports 2757 new cases over the weekend

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 2,757 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 72 hours (1,253 new cases on Friday), to bring the total so far to 74,992, up from 72,254 on Friday.

ISDH reported 1,036 new cases on Saturday; 1,048 on Sunday; and 673 today.

ISDH was also reporting 21 additional COVID-19 deaths over the last 72 hours (10 additional deaths on Friday), to bring the total to date to 3,051, up from 3,030 on Friday.

In addition, ISDH was reporting 921 hospitalizations today, the most since June 5, when 926 hospitalizations were reported.

Marion County has the most reported cases, 15,963 (15,503 on Friday); and the most deaths, 725 (725). Lake County has reported 7,632 cases (7,447) and 275 deaths (274), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County has reported 921 cases and 30 deaths (883 and 30).

The total COVID-19 death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date. Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. A total of 206 presumptive deaths was reported today, up from 202 on Friday.
