State reports 1,024 new cases and 20 deaths

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 1,024 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours (671 new cases on Wednesday), to bring the total so far to 77,565, up 76,522 on Wednesday.

ISDH was also reporting 20 additional COVID-19 deaths over the last 24 hours (17 additional deaths on Wednesday), to bring the total to date to 3,113, up from 3,093 on Wednesday.

Marion County has the most reported cases, 16,304 (16,194); and the most deaths, 733 (731). Lake County has reported 7,840 cases (7,742) and 283 deaths (281), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County has reported 957 cases and 30 deaths (935 and 30).

The total COVID-19 death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date. Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. A total of 207 presumptive deaths was reported today, unchanged from Wednesday.
