State: New C19 cases and deaths spike

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 676 new COVID-19 cases (581 new cases on Wednesday) over the last 24 hours, to bring total confirmed cases in the state to 29,936, up from 29,272, an increase of 2.3 percent.

ISDH was also reporting 48 additional deaths over the last 24 hours (38 additional deaths on Wednesday), to bring the total in the state so far to 1,764, up from 1,716, an increase of 2.8 percent.

The number of probable COVID-19 deaths to date: 149. Probable deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. Total confirmed and probable COVID-19 deaths Indiana: 1,913 (1,864 on Wednesday).

Nursing home cases and deaths to date: 3,625 cases and 732 deaths (unchanged from Wednesday). Number of nursing home facilities in the state with at least one case of COVID-19: 212. Number with at least one death: 129.

202,995 tests have been reported to date to ISDH, up from 195,738 on Wednesday, an increase of 3.7 percent over the last 24 hours, with a positive rate of 14.7 percent. Tests are being conducted by ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and private laboratories.

Tests in Porter County: 3,578 (3,372). In Lake County: 18,824 (18,251). In LaPorte County: 3.004 (2,895).

Marion County has the most reported cases, 8,815 (8,656 on Wednesday); and the most deaths, 518 (505). Lake County has reported 3,087 cases (3,024) and 162 deaths (149), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County has reported 373 cases and 17 deaths (365 and 16).
