Set clocks back Sunday; change batteries in alarms

Back To Front Page

Fall back.

Chesterton Fire Chief John Jarka is reminding Dunelanders that Daylight Savings Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, and--along with setting clocks back one hour, and getting that extra hour of sleep Sunday morning--its time to change the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

A working smoke detector that is properly installed and maintained will play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries, Jarka said. If there is a fire in your home, smoke spreads fast and you need a smoke detector/alarm to notify you and give you time to get out safely.
