Rock for a Cure NWI
will launch on Saturday, March 25 at 7 p.m. with an evening of rock music
and a silent auction at Moose Lodge 1623, 602 Broadway in Chesterton.
Founded in January
of this year, the goal of Rock for a Cure NWI is to raise funds for cancer
research and to assist Northwest Indiana residents who have been financially
devastated by cancer. Conceived by Valparaiso resident Jesse Klemz and
Chesterton residents Mark Stewart and Mary Paschen, the organization will
present a series of special events and produce one major concert focused on
rock music annually. The stated mission of the organization is: “Bringing
hope, love and assistance to Northwest Indiana Cancer fighters.”

Boggs is master of ceremonies for this first time event which features the
band Nine Point Six and includes a special performance by Monkeys Unkle.
Nine Point Six is known for its classic heavy metal tunes and Monkeys Unkle
performs classic rock hits from the 80s and 90s.
The Rock for a Cure
NWI Silent Auction offers items including full service oil changes from
Jiffy Lube in Chesterton, $50 Gift Certificate from Shorebird Cafe
(formerly Peggy Sue’s Diner) and Gourmet Cupcakes provided by Cupcakes by
Ali of Elkhart. The Spotlight Item of the auction is a Badaax SS106S
electric guitar donated by Midwest Musicians Co-Op in Elkhart. Written bids
will be taken throughout the evening with the winning bidders announced at
11 p.m.
