Rebuilding Together-Duneland (RTD)’s annual work day--Saturday, April 26--is fast approaching and the organization is reaching out to the community for help, to meet its goal of rehabilitating five deserving homes and completing five community projects.

“Our focus provides hope for a homeowner who meets all of the necessary guidelines and needs improvements to their home,” RTD President Jocelyn Hibshman said. “We focus on critical repairs, accessibility modifications and energy efficient upgrades for financially struggling homeowners to assure they live in warmth, safety, dignity and independence.”

“Thanks to the strong support we have received from both volunteers and sponsors, we’ve been able to complete 183 projects since 1997,” RTD Fundraising Chair Keith Davidson added. “The impact RTD has on the lives of Duneland community members has been significant. We are hoping to keep our momentum going for this workday and need to raise funds to support our planned efforts. Our goal this year is to raise $40,000.”

RTD expressed its gratitude to the Chesterton Lions Club, Luella De Wulf, Porter Bank, and Darlene Manuzzi, in memory of Nick Manuzzi, for their generous donation of $2,000 along with the Chesterton-Duneland Kiwanis Club for its donation of $1,000.

If you would like to support RTD, donations can be made online at by PayPal in the donations tab or by mailing a check to Rebuilding Together-Duneland, P.O. Box 644, Chesterton, IN 46304.

Material donations are also welcome.
