Prevent Child Abuse cycle ride Sunday

Back To Front Page

This Sunday, June 23, will be the second annual Prevent Child Abuse Porter County Benefit Motorcycle Ride, organized by Friends In Service Together Riding Club (F.I.S.T. RC).

The 80 mile ride will begin and finish at Leroy's Hot Stuff, 333 West U.S. Hwy 20, Porter. This year’s ride includes beautiful views of Lake Michigan as well as scenic and curvy county roads through a canopy of trees. Along the route there will be four stops at Porter and LaPorte County locations where the riders can enjoy a break and a cold drink.

Funds raised from this event will go to Prevent Child Abuse Porter County (PCAPC). PCAPC depends on contributions from events like this to pay for the various programs they have in place as they try to stop Child Abuse, before it happens. Emily Kurzinski, President of PCAPC and Karry Hickman from F.I.S.T. RC, have been hard at work for the last 10 months acquiring donations for the ride. Many large organizations from North Chicago to Sothern Indiana, have donated valuable prizes that all of the riders will have a chance to win after the ride.

Riders should sign up at Leroy's Hot Stuff between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The cost of the event is $15 per rider and $10 per passenger. After the ride all participants are welcome to stay and enjoy the live band and will be treated to Aurelio's Pizza as well as other food donated by Family Express and other businesses.

The ride registration also includes a free event T-shirt and event bandana to the first 80 registrants. Last year over 100 registered riders participated.

Leroy's Hot Stuff will be offering an all you can eat $6 breakfast before the event for those eager to get an early start.
