Prairie Magic Music Festival at Sunset Hill Farm County Park Saturday

Back To Front Page

Porter County Parks & Recreation would like to invite visitors to the Prairie Magic Music Festival on Saturday, Aug. 12 at 1 p.m.

The Prairie Magic Music Fest is a celebration of rock, blues, folk and Americana music set right in the heart of beautiful Sunset Hill Farm County Park, just minutes from the expressway.

This festival features a dynamite line up including local acts The Planetary Blues Band, The Crawpuppies, Foster Ross & Young, and the Blues Project, as well as Chicago favorites the Nicholas Tremulis Orchestra.

The festival will also highlight craft food and beer vendors. Valpo Velvet Ice Cream and Bartlett’s Gourmet Grill will be satisfying hunger while a beer garden will make local microbrews available to those 21 and over. Water will be available on site at no cost, but coolers and outside food and beverages are not allowed.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Porter County Parks Foundation and the Blues Project -- an initiative to bring blues music into Valparaiso schools. With this festival, the community can take advantage of the performance space at the Amphitheater in Sunset Hill Farm County Park.

The Prairie Magic Music Festival is sponsored by Thorgren Tool & Molding, Indiana Dunes Tourism, CENTURY 21 Affiliated, Enbridge, AireServ, Metro Recycling, Valpo Velvet Ice Cream, Coastal Valley Water Company, and Simko Signs.

Festival tickets are just $15 for adults; $10 with a student ID; and kids 12 and under are free. The event is family friendly. Bounce houses, crafts and more will entertain children.

This year, camping is offered. Come spend the day at the Festival and sleep under the stars in the Sunset Hill Farm Campground. Wagons will be available to take visitors back and forth from the campground. Just $5 per Family. Tents only. Tickets required.
