Porter-Starke Services held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new facility
in Portage.
Among those attending the ceremony were U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky and Portage
Mayor Olga Velazquez. The event was hosted by Porter-Starke Services and the
Portage Chamber of Commerce.
Visclosky secured $550,000 in federal funding in fiscal year 2010 for the
new Portage site.
“I strongly believe that we all deserve an opportunity to live the most
fulfilling, productive life we can. Northwest Indiana is fortunate to have
an organization dedicated to helping our residents do just that,” Visclosky
said. “I’d like to thank the leadership and staff of Porter-Starke Services
for your continued commitment and dedication to the people and communities
of Northwest Indiana.”
Porter-Starke Services has provided behavioral healthcare services to
patients in Porter and Starke counties since 1975. The new Portage facility
expands Porter-Starke’s Portage presence with additional group and
individual counseling space and a community room large enough for trainings,
education, and presentations.
