The Porter County Health Department was reporting this morning another death
from COVID-19 as well as 31 additional confirmed cases.
The death, reported on Saturday, is the 12th in the county to date. The
victim was a Portage Township resident in the 90-and-over age group.
Portage Township has seen seven of its residents die from COVID-19: three
50-59, one 70-79; one 80-89; and two 90-and-over.
Four of the victims were Dunelanders: three from Westchester Township, two
80-89 and one 50-59; and a Liberty Township resident 80-89.
One victim was a Center Township resident 70-79.
Eight of the victims were men. Four were women. Deaths by demographic: four
50-59; two 70-79; four 80-89; and two 90-and-over.
The Health Department was also reporting 31 new cases of COVID-19 over the
last 72 hours, to bring the total in the county to 342, up from 311 on
Those 31 new cases represent a 10-percent increase over the last three days.
Seventeen patients are currently hospitalized, up from 15 on Friday; while
196 have recovered, up from 189 on Friday.
Total active cases in Porter County, after subtracting recoveries and
deaths: 134, compared to 111 on Friday, an increase of 21 percent.
Total COVID-19 tests conducted in Porter County as of today, according to
the Indiana State Department of Health: 2,487, up from 2,204 on Friday, an
increase of 13 percent over the last 72 hours.
Duneland cases by township:
-- Westchester: 29 cases (28 on Friday), three deaths (two), two
hospitalizations (two), 16 recoveries (14). Ten active cases.
-- Liberty: 16 cases (15 on Friday), one death (one), no hospitalizations
(none), nine recoveries (nine). Six active cases.
-- Jackson: one case, one recovery.
-- Pine: three cases, no hospitalizations, one recovery (unchanged from
Friday). Two active cases.
Other hard hit townships:
-- Portage Township: 148 cases (132 on Friday), seven deaths (six), six
hospitalizations (six), and 81 recoveries (78).
