Porter County reports 11 new virus cases

The Porter County Health Department was reporting this morning 11 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours (13 new cases on Tuesday), to bring the total so far to 1,753, up from 1,742 on Tuesday.

Six patients are currently hospitalized, down from nine on Tuesday. Total active cases in Porter County: 147.

The Health Department reported no additional deaths today. To date 43 Porter County residents have succumbed to COVID-19.

A total of 110 cases have been reported so far in long-term care facilities in Porter County, unchanged from Tuesday. One of those patients is currently hospitalized, down from two on Tuesday; while 74 have recovered and 27 have died, unchanged from Tuesday.

Duneland cases by township:

-- Westchester: 187 cases (184 on Tuesday). Twenty-seven active cases.

-- Liberty: 87 cases (unchanged from Tuesday). Three active cases.

-- Jackson: 25 cases (24 on Tuesday). Four active cases.

-- Pine: 11 cases (unchanged from Tuesday). One active case.

Other townships:

-- Portage: 624 cases (623 on Tuesday). Thirty-five active cases.

-- Center: 491 cases (488 on Tuesday). Forty-two active cases. Center Township’s total includes Valparaiso University students.

-- Washington: 82 cases (81 on Tuesday). Four active cases. Washington Township’s total includes Porter County Jail inmates.

-- Union: 95 cases (unchanged from Tuesday). Thirteen active cases.

Statewide: 871 new cases, 13 more deaths

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 871 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours (721 new cases on Tuesday), to bring the total so far to 95,750, up from 94,891 on Tuesday.

ISDH was also reporting 13 additional COVID-19 deaths over the last 24 hours (16 additional deaths on Tuesday), to bring the total to date to 3,336, up from 3,323 on Tuesday.

Marion County has reported the most cases of any county in the state, 18,721 (18,567 on Tuesday); and the most deaths, 749 (747). Lake County has reported 9,206 cases (9,173) and 298 deaths (297), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County has reported 1,194 cases and 31 deaths (1,189 and 31).

The total COVID-19 death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date. Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. A total of 219 presumptive deaths was reported today, unchanged from Tuesday.
