Department of Transportation is announcing lane and ramp closures next week
for patching work on I-80/94 and Ind. 912 next week.
The closures will
be in effect from Monday, Aug. 18, through Wednesday, Aug. 26, weather
The right lane and
ramp lane of I-80/94 will be closed for full-depth patching between mile
markers 14 and 16 at the Ind. 51 interchange. Three lanes will be shifted to
the left, utilizing the shoulder and 11-foot wide lanes. The off-ramp from
eastbound I-80/94 to northbound Ind. 51 and the on-ramp from southbound Ind.
51 to eastbound I-80/94 will both be closed. A barrier wall will be
installed for work and traffic safety during this time.
Drivers should seek
alternate routes. The official detour for southbound Ind. 51 to eastbound
I-80/94 will follow Ind. 51 to U.S. Highway 6, and Ind. 49. The official
detour for eastbound I-80/94 to northbound Ind. 51 will follow I-80/94, Ind.
249, and U.S. Highway 20.
The ramp from
eastbound I-80/94 to southbound Ind. 912 will be reduced to one lane for
patching as well. Traffic will still be able to reach north- and southbound
Ind. 912 through the off-ramp.
