Kids 12 to 17 may register now for Hooked on Art chalk competition

Ready, set, chalk!

Students are invited to extend their summer by participating in the sixth annual Hooked on Art - Live Street Art Festival, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Thomas Centennial Park in Downtown Chesterton.

Students aged 12 to 17 may compete individually or as a team.

Registration is free and includes a 6’x6’ chalk art space, chalk supplies, and the chance to win a trophy and a $250 Blick art material gift certificate.

Hosted by Frontline Foundations, Inc., the Hooked on Art is a family-friendly event that fuses visual and performing arts. Proceeds provide affordable substance abuse treatment to men and women in our community.

“The Youth Chalk Art Competition is a positive event that supports a good cause,” Frontline Operations Director Derek Frazier said. “Schools, youth organizations, and church youth groups can compete in a fun environment that reinforces the message of prevention.”

Should an individual or team need to cancel their registration, notify Frontline by Tuesday, Sept. 19. A fee will be charged to no shows and late cancellations.

Frontline is a 501(c)3 non-profit substance abuse treatment center. The mission of Frontline is to serve as a source of hope to men and women suffering from substance abuse while also providing an effective treatment and recovery support system.
