Dunes Action! will
hold a public meeting on Tuesday, August 8, to update supporters on the

era Beach Pavilion and build a new commercial banquet facility next to it.
Attendees will get
an update on the challenge to the development in the park based on Land and
Water Conservation Fund restrictions. The Porter County Chapter of the Izaak
Walton League and Dunes Action have made a case for stopping the project on
the grounds that it violates federal guidelines set out in the Land and
Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965. The LWCF guidelines require approval
from the National Park Service prior to the start of the project.
