Duneland Y seeks donations for planned outdoor garden

Back To Front Page

The Duneland YMCA is planning a garden of fruit, vegetables and native plant species.

Y Summer Campers will learn to tend the garden and will share in the harvest. Native species will enhance the garden, attract native wildlife and be replanted in local ecosystems. Excess produce will be available for sale in a market setting. Please consider donating some of the needed gardening supplies to help the Summer Campers learn the art of gardening.

Supplies needed include 30 bags of organic potting soil; two bags of compost; four packages of crucifer seeds, four strawberry plants, four packages each of tomato, cucumber, peppers, peas and squash seeds; four radish, beet, leaf lettuce seed packages; six 4’x4’ pea trellises; two clotheslines for pea trellises; two garden shovels; four hand trowels; two garden rakes; two leaf rakes; and two compost cans.

Donations can be dropped off at the Y Member Services Desk.

For information, contact Ashley Hall at the Y, (219) 926-4204.
