merchants will be leaving the lights on this Friday night to encourage folks
to stop in and get acquainted with the local shops.

casual kick-off to the weekend.
Food, sweets, home
decor, fashion, and more are awaiting the discerning shopper looking for a
change of pace. A stroll through the Downtown is sure to provide a few happy
surprises, and if you’ve been thinking of doing more local shopping, this is
the perfect opportunity to discover some new favorite shops.
participating include Fresh News, Danny O’s, Gatsby’s Barbershop, Flower
Cart, Flying Mermaids, Ashley’s Jewelry By Design, Spike & Buddy’s Interior
Design, Chelle’s and Green Garage, Venice Pizza, Circles in the Wind, Sweet
D’s, O’Gara and Wilson Antiquarian Booksellers, and Tria Boutique.
It’s going to be a
lively night on the town and a beautiful evening under the stars. (See

Music & Movie
Concurrent with the
Downtown shopping event, the Westchester Public Library’s free concert and
family film series continues at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at the bandstand in
Thomas Park. Cynthia Shelhart will open the evening, performing her music,
with the film Finding Dory set to run at dusk, about 8 p.m.
Folks are invited
to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnic dinners, and bug spray to make the
experience more enjoyable. In the case of rain, both events will be offered
in the Baugher Center, 100 W. Indiana Ave. in Chesterton.
The Music & Movie
series is funded in part by the Chesterton-Porter Rotary Club. Library
concerts are free and open to the public.
