County C19 cases top 300

The Porter County Health Department was reporting this morning 12 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, to bring the total in the county to 302, up from 290 on Wednesday.

Those 12 new cases represent a 4.1-percent increase over the last 24 hours.

No additional deaths were reported today. To date, 10 Porter County residents have died of COVID-19. Four were Dunelanders: three from Westchester Township, two in the 80-89 demographic, one in the 50-59; and a Liberty Township resident in the 80-89. Five were Portage Township residents: one in the 70-79 and three in the 50-59, one in 70-79, and one in the 90-and-over. One was a Center Township resident in the 70-79. Six of the victims were men. Four were women.

Fifteen patients are currently hospitalized, compared to 13 on Wednesday; while 189 have recovered, compared to 170 on Wednesday, an increase of 11.2 percent.

Total active cases in Porter County, after subtracting recoveries and deaths: 103, compared to 110 on Wednesday.

Total COVID-19 tests conducted in Porter County as of Wednesday, according to the Indiana State Department of Health: 2,090, up from 2,028, an increase of 3 percent over the previous 24 hours.

Duneland cases by township:

-- Westchester: 25 cases, three deaths, two hospitalizations, 14 recoveries (unchanged from Wednesday). Eight active cases.

-- Liberty: 15 cases (14 on Wednesday), one death (one), no hospitalizations (none), nine recoveries (nine). Five active cases.

-- Jackson: one case, one recovery.

-- Pine: one case, one recovery. No active cases.

Other hard hit townships:

-- Portage Township: 129 cases (124 on Wednesday), five deaths (five), six hospitalizations (five), and 78 recoveries (77).

-- Center: 49 cases (44 on Wednesday), one death (one), five hospitalizations (four), and 29 recoveries (29).

-- Washington: 43 cases (43 on Wednesday), one hospitalization (one), and 32 recoveries (14). These 43 cases include the 40 patients at Porter County Jail.

-- Union: 16 cases, one hospitalization, and 11 recoveries (unchanged from Tuesday)
