Chesterton Health &
Emergency Center will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on tuesday,
Aug. 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 770 Indian Boundary Rd, Chesterton (just
east of SR 49 in Indian Boundary Rd.).
Registration will
be located inside the Chesterton Health & Emergency Center lobby while blood
donations will be taken on the Red Cross bloodmobile, parked just outside
the facility.
Interested donors
may schedule a personal donation time by making an appointment at
www.redcrossblood.org,
sponsor code “cheshe”. Walk-ins are welcomed and encouraged.
All individuals who
are 17 years of age or older, meet the weight requirement of 110 pounds or
more, and are in good health are eligible to donate blood. Donors are asked
to please bring a Red Cross blood donor card or another form of photo
identification. It is important for all donors to eat a nutritious meal and
be hydrated before donating.
Each day, the Red
Cross needs 15,000 blood donations to meet the demand of the 44,000 pints of
blood that are needed by patients across the country. Each blood donation
has the potential to save three lives.
