Chesterton Health & Emergency Center will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on tuesday, Aug. 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 770 Indian Boundary Rd, Chesterton (just east of SR 49 in Indian Boundary Rd.).

Registration will be located inside the Chesterton Health & Emergency Center lobby while blood donations will be taken on the Red Cross bloodmobile, parked just outside the facility.

Interested donors may schedule a personal donation time by making an appointment at www.redcrossblood.org, sponsor code “cheshe”. Walk-ins are welcomed and encouraged.

All individuals who are 17 years of age or older, meet the weight requirement of 110 pounds or more, and are in good health are eligible to donate blood. Donors are asked to please bring a Red Cross blood donor card or another form of photo identification. It is important for all donors to eat a nutritious meal and be hydrated before donating.

Each day, the Red Cross needs 15,000 blood donations to meet the demand of the 44,000 pints of blood that are needed by patients across the country. Each blood donation has the potential to save three lives.
