Bertha Still honored with Senior Service Award: The Chesterton/Duneland Chamber of Commerce Senior Service Award was given this year to Bertha Still. The award, underwritten and designed by Dana Johnson of Ashley’s Jewelry by Design, was presented by Janice Custer at the annual banquet Jan. 16. The Senior award is presented to seniors who show initiative and creativity and continue to be a valuable asset to the Duneland Community. Still was an elementary school teacher for 39 years and has been involved in the community for many years. She has been a member of the following, serving in many offices, including president of the Chesterton Junior Woman’s Club and twice co-chairperson of the Art Show, Beta Gamma Upsilon Sorority Past President, Beta Gamma Upsilon Alumnae Sorority and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority Past President. Still is a charter member of the Duneland School Foundation and is currently on the Board of the Historical Society. She is an active member of St. Francis Episcopal Church and serves on many fundraising committees, and substitute teaches the children classes.
