Bark in the Park is Saturday in Chesterton

The 7th annual Bark in the Park is set for this Saturday, July 12, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Thomas Centennial Park, downtown Chesterton. Admission is free.

The event is organized and sponsored by Duneland Business Initiative Group.

5K, 1 mi. walk

Start your day early with the 5K Run With the Big Dogs or the 1 mile Stroll. Owners are encouraged to run or walk with their dogs for even more fun.

Registration is from 6-6:45 a.m., and the race begins at 7 a.m. The race will start and end in the Duneland Resale parking lot at 8th & Broadway. Visit www.DuneBig.com for more details, and a registration form, or call Race Director, Paul Stofko, at (970) 214-4203.

Bark in the Park

Can you do a good dog-bark imitation?? Does your old dog know some new tricks? Or, maybe you bear a distinct resemblance to each other? Then brush-up, dress-up and put your best paw forward to vie for valuable prize baskets from Chesterton Feed and Garden in these and more contests from Noon to 1:00 p.m. No registration is necessary, contests are free to enter.

Line up to participate in the following contests: Owner-Dog Look-alike, Best Trick, Best Dressed, Best Human Barker, and more. Contest prizes are provided by Chesterton Feed and Garden, Hot Diggity Dawg, and Dunebig.

Kids & K-9s will have a great time splashing and picking the lucky duck in the Duck Hunt game where every player wins a prize! Or, have Fido personally paint a PawCasso just for you! Games and activities will have a nominal fee.

Enjoy a pet-friendly day in the park, visit with local shelters, and regional pet rescue organizations, learn more about specialized pet services offered in the area, and purchase locally-made pet merchandise and treats.

Local K9 units from Chesterton and Porter will be on hand to demonstrate the abilities of their K9s.
