The recent fifty-fifth reunion of the Class of 1946 was a three day
celebration.
Friday classmates met for an informal gathering at the home of John and
Dolores Read. Forty classmates enjoyed food, fun, conversation and exchange
of memories.
Saturday morning classmates met at Chesterton High School for a tour of the
new facility. Erin Slont, granddaughter of the Reads, led the tour. The
general consensus was that children and grandchildren have so many more
advantages than the Class of ‘46.
Saturday evening the group gathered for cocktails and dinner at the Michigan
City Yacht Club. Red roses, the class flower, decorated each table. Class
President Dick Michaels welcomed the class and related some humorous school
memories.
Classmates remembered classmates who have died: Rita Milzarek, Bert Herring,
Rose Palmagiani, Annabell Flitter, Robert Johnson, Roger Johnson, John
Gloser, John Strand, Dave Bedenkop, Bill Taubert, Natalie McKenna, Pat
Patton, Jack Sitar, Marshall Esmoer, Eugene Blatz and Roger Wiseman.
Sunday morning class gathered for brunch at the Michigan City Yacht Club.
Final goodbyes and safe trips were wished to all. The class will meet again
in 2004.
