GARY, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a northern Indiana man died at U.S.
Steel’s Gary Works complex after becoming wedged between two rail cars.
The Times of Munster reports that 55-year-old Michael M. Shoemaker of Hobart
was working at the steel-making complex at the time of Monday night’s
accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lake County Coroner’s office spokesman P.J. Adams says Shoemaker’s cause of
death was ruled blunt force trauma suffered in an industrial accident.
The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating
along with U.S. Steel Gary Works’ security and safety department.
